Student And Young Adult Programs
Florida’s Statewide Workforce Development Program provides opportunities for students and young adults to learn about what it takes to build Florida’s roads and bridges, developing pipelines into the transportation industry.
Student Construction Internships
FDOT is making it easier for contractors to find quality interns. The Student Construction Internship program matches students and young adults – ages 16-24 with leading industry contractors for paid work experience.
Students get a PAID real-world experience working up to 40 hours per week learning the skills and activities that go into building Florida’s road and bridges. Contractors get eager young workers – at no cost – to support entry-level work needs and a potential future full-time hire.
Students and Young Adults interested in a PAID Internship can Register Here to be connected with one of our FDOT contractors, or email [email protected]
Student Construction Career Academy
The Student Construction Career Academy is an immersive experience for Florida high school and technical-school students to learn about the paths to possible road and bridge construction careers. During the academy, contractors will use an interactive approach to teach students about industry opportunities, practices, operations, and various trades and craft skills.
Florida Construction Career Days Participation
FDOT’s Statewide Workforce Development Program works with partners yearly to participate in Florida Construction Career Days (CCD) events. These large-scale events give students around the state a sneak peek into possible future careers in the road-building industry. The success of CCD events rests heavily on the participation of contractors and other industry members.
