Superintendent

Role Description:

Superintendents are responsible for managing field operations in the jobs they oversee. This includes but not limited to setting goals, developing strategies, allocating resources, proper equipment is scheduled, and ensuring that all activities align with the TMS objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Work along side the PM to complete a job from start to finish. Provide necessary information to create 3 week look ahead. Discuss daily updates at the end of each day, not the morning the day of.
  • Always have a backup plan in case original work is unable to be performed.
  • Spot check crews work for quality and accuracy
  • Read and respond to company emails in a timely manner.
  • Report injuries, near misses, accidents and fill out proper documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ability to track quantities, installation and production processes.
  • Ability to track day to day delivery dates to accomplish goals, material ordered in advance.
  • Ability to identify revenue generating work for look ahead schedules.
  • Must be proficient in understanding and interpreting FDOT plans. Must be able to translate plans to operations in field.
  • Communicate and relay proper FDOT specs and plan sheets needed for an operation, clear instructions given to avoid rework.
  • Set realistic goals and hold crews accountable.
  • Ability to plan materials, equipment, and resources and identify potential issues before they arise.
  • Work with PM to keep Sub-contractors on schedule and being productive.
  • Communicate with CEI and/or field inspectors.
  • Review timesheets and pay items to make sure information is clear and labor is reported correctly.
  • Help PM with construction of Change Orders. Be detailed in resources and equipment necessary from start to finish.
  • Ensure adherence to TMS’s standards of safety, quality, and best practices.
  • Ability to teach and train employees to complete production goals.
  • Employee shall conduct themself in a positive and respectful manner when interacting with the other contractors, the public, and within the company.

Qualifications:

  • Current valid Drivers License (Required)
  • Minimum High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Must work well with all other employees, vendors, general contractors etc.
  • Reading and understanding of contract documents, specifications, and plans.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred but not required
  • Understanding of basic electrical systems and voltages
  • Understanding of all equipment used in underground, arial and boom
  • All hand tools listed for Forman
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to work as part of a team to complete a given task
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs – Check handbook?
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied climates
